ConAgra Foods had a brand problem. The company had dozens of powerful, popular brands - brands that could be found in 97 percent of American kitchens, superstars like Orville Redenbacher's, Chef Boyardee and Healthy Choice...

Maybe this doesn't sound like much of a problem. But, really, it was. Because almost no one was connecting these megawatt brands with ConAgra Foods. Even internally, employees struggled to name and relate to the company's brands. Grocery stores - ConAgra Foods' chief customers - and investors weren't giving the company credit for all its success.
