Note from AMA Omaha President, Belinda Boelter

I am thrilled to welcome you to our 2020-2021 board term. The past several months have been a whirlwind for our board, as I’m sure they have been for you, both professionally and personally. AMA Omaha remains committed to being the essential community for marketers. We will continue to serve as a resource for marketing professionals by providing a forum for discussion and feedback on key industry issues and trends; as well as, opportunity for professional development. We have no intentions of coasting through the 2020-2021 board year. In this time of adversity, we strive to Elevate our virtual programming and events to ensure you remain a successful marketing professional.

What can you expect this year?

AMA Omaha will continue to offer the quality programming that you have come to know and expect. For the remainder of 2020 we will be hosting virtual events. Since we will be going virtual, we have decided to put our AMA Omaha Power Lunches on hold (until we can gather in-person again) and instead do AMA Omaha Marketing Power Hours. Our Marketing Power Hours will consist of national speakers and local experts offering ideas to stretch and challenge your thinking – think Power Lunch but in a virtual format instead of in-person. We will also continue our AMA Workshops online. Our Workshop sessions offer practical skills for today’s professional marketer. Going virtual with our events also provides us with opportunities to partner with other AMA Chapters nationwide. Look for more information on partner events in the coming months on our social channels and email newsletter! As we approach the new year, we will re-evaluate CDC and state guidelines and form a plan for our programming the remainder of the board year.

What else can you expect from AMA Omaha? Each year, we celebrate the astounding strategic and creative work in our community with our annual Pinnacle Awards. We continue to give back through our AMA Cares initiative, adopting a local charity partner each year and offering that organization support, fundraising and more. AMP by AMA Omaha allows us to expand our educational resources with a local podcast that features short segments perfect for your mid-day break with updates from AMA, presenter interviews and other marketing inspiration.

Over the past several months, we also took a hard look at our organization and reflected on ways we could do better. One of those ways was to create and implement a Diversity & Inclusion role. This role is long overdue. We are prepared to put in the energy and time it deserves, and elevate it to the best it can be to support our members, non-members and the Omaha marketing community. We, as marketers, understand the importance of a voice, of a point of view, of sharing, of educating and of elevating. We look forward to building this role throughout the year and welcome your feedback on how we can continue to strengthen this role to help the Omaha marketing community throughout the years.
