AMA Omaha Wins Gold Chapter of The Year Award in 2019/2020 National Chapter Excellence Awards Program

AMA Omaha Selected as Top American Marketing Association Chapter in Nation for 2019/2020 Board Year

OMAHA, NE – AMA Omaha, the leading educational information, career-building, and networking resource for marketing professionals in the Greater Omaha area, today announced that the Chapter won the Gold Chapter of the Year award in the 2019/2020 American Marketing Association (AMA) Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) for outstanding achievements in leadership, finance, membership, programming and communications. AMA Omaha first entered the awards competition following the 2016/2017 Board term, and has received increasing CEA recognition each year since.

“The onset of the pandemic meant that little about the 2019/2020 term went as expected or initially planned – but every member of our Board and our local marketing community stepped up to see a special year through to incredible success,” said Jordan Maddex-Kopp, 2019/2020 AMA Omaha President. “When faced with such incredible change, it is important to note AMA Omaha did not waiver from our commitment to our marketing community, and in fact sought to find new and innovative ways to add value and continue to meet our strategic plan. While we were realistic in our approach, the pandemic was in no way, shape, or form a reason to step back from our duties or our enthusiasm for the work done by AMA Omaha. Taking home the Gold CEA is an incredible affirmation of the commitment and dedication of everyone involved, especially our wonderful volunteer board.”

Established in 1974, the CEA program highlights AMA professional chapters’ outstanding achievements in all areas of chapter operations, such as strategic planning, volunteer management, membership engagement, programming delivery, and financial management. These chapters continue to build on a legacy of achievement by delivering exceptional, innovative experiences to their local marketing community year after year.

The 2019/2020 CEA competition saw a record-number of Chapters participate, making the Gold Award all the more special. The top honor recognized a year of not only meeting and exceeding Chapter goals, but showcasing incredible innovation, including a revamped programming lineup, the launch of the AMA Omaha Executive Advisory Council, the AMA Omaha Pub Quiz, and the podcast AMP by AMA Omaha

“The mundanity of excellence is not lost on the AMA Omaha chapter. Their unwavering and selfless commitment to the Omaha marketing community spans decades,” said CEO of the AMA, Russ Klein. “The chapter’s leadership team leaned into the adversity of 2020 and cemented new and impressive milestones for member growth, attendance, engagement, and financial achievement; and shines as an exemplary model for all AMA chapters.”

To celebrate the first-ever Gold CEA for AMA Omaha, the chapter offered free online programming to both members and non-members for the month of January 2021, including a sold-out Jan. 13 Power Hour and a popular Workshop event. The Chapter also plans to unveil a fully revamped website, in partnership with Wave Interactive, to conclude the month of celebration and further elevate the online experience for members and the local marketing community.
