Letter from AMA President, Jordan Maddex-Kopp

The last few years have been truly AMAzing for your Omaha chapter of the American Marketing Association. When the unexpected became the norm, our incredible volunteer Board of Directors took each curveball and revision to plan in stride – and with each pivot, continued in our unwavering promise to add value to our marketing community.  Fresh off the celebration of our 2019/2020 AMA Gold Chapter of the Year Award (the highest recognition for a professional Chapter in the country!), it is my honor to set the stage for the term ahead on behalf of your AMA Omaha team.

  • We miss your faces, really, truly! And we are delighted to announce the return of in-person AMA Omaha programs this fall. Look for information on our first Power Lunch of 2021/22 (back at our old haunt, Spezia!), coming this September. We also look forward to the return of our Marketers Meetups networking events, with a few super-sized takes on this old favorite thrown in (we have lots of time to make up for, after all!).
  • While we will revel in the return of our in-person events, we also realize the appetite for convenience and easy access to content has peaked throughout the pandemic. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that our AMA Omaha Workshop series will remain virtual for the next year! These tactical, skills-based programs have seen record attendance in the online world, and we look forward to continuing to offer practical training for your marketing toolkit in this virtual format.
  • Is all of the above subject to change? You betcha. Like every decision made throughout the course of COVID, the safety of our members and supporters comes first. As policies or situations warrant, we will be among the first to adjust course and find another way to serve our community.

While our local programming remains the cornerstone of our service to the Omaha marketing world, we have so much more to share in the coming months – including a restart of the AMA Omaha AMP podcast, new and exclusive native content and educational resources, additional Omaha-specific membership perks, the announcement of our 2021/22 AMA Omaha Cares charity partner, and finally – a brand new home for AMA Omaha on the web, with special attention paid to our event registration interface and site navigation.

As marketers, we have been among perhaps the most flexible during the pandemic – nimble, resourceful, finding creative ways to keep our ships pointed in the right direction. This year, we invite you to join us on our mission to #FlexFORWARD, as we collectively regain our footing and push boldly onward into the new normal with new ideas, new inspiration, and new appreciation for the connections we make along the way.

Yours in what’s yet to come,

Jordan Maddex-Kopp
